I am hearing that they will show the pilot episode and have a Q&A with the new cast at NY Comic Con.

Some of my fellow Roswell friends and former co MOD Dreamer 4 ever is coming to NY Comic Con with me. Some are excted about the remake others not so much.

I have a press pass for NY Comic Con this year. I am still debating if I will go to the Roswell New Mexico panel. I might just to see if anyone from the Original cast shows up. I know Shiri is going to direct an episode. So maybe she might be a surprise. We shall see.

Plus if I could see this NEW show or the show that will not be named for free then I will. This way I am not give the CW ratings when it aires. It will be interesting also to see what Julie Plec and Candice has to say and the cast about the new show and what it has in store.

one thing for sure we all said that it will not have the magic or the acting of the original!

I still have yet to read the pilot script. I will do that soon.

If it's free, maybe go and check it out and form some thoughts on the finished product and report back to us about what you saw! It could make for a good discussion about it. I'm still super curious about your thoughts on the pilot script if/when you get to it. Though don't bank on any original cast to be there, since both shows are completely separate. I know Shiri's episode starts filming in October, I'm not sure when, but I also doubt she'd be present as she's just a director on this project for one episode only at this point. So far, the only people in attendance are Carina MacKenzie, Jeanine Mason (Liz) and Nathan Parsons (Max). Julie Plec may be at the panel since she's an exec producer too, but it doesn't sound like any of the other cast will be present AGAIN (I won't get into how much that bothers me, since I already feel like certain characters are being pushed aside in favor of nepotism and pandering, but I digress).

The unofficial panel they did at SDCC is also interesting to watch if you're curious about where they might be going with the stories and the characters and their thought process on the whole thing. I would recommend it, as long as you keep an open mind, because there were a lot of moments/comments/etc made regarding the original show that made it sound like they didn't even watch it or even pay attention to the characters.

I'm certainly hoping that the pilot episode somehow makes it onto the internet after that panel and I can track it down to watch it

Yes if it is FREE I will watch it. I mean why not if I have the opportunity.

I will try my best to go into it with a netural lense and give my honet opinion however it will be hard.

I am still upset over this remake aka NEW show.

I was not a fan of the trailer so I can't see how the new pilot will be any better.

All in all I know in my heart that nothing can top the original.

My paper today did a whole article about reboots and remakes.

When it came to the CW they mentioned nothing about Roswell New Mexico. They were more focused on the Charm reboot and on the new football Drama that is similar to Friday Night Lights.

So mayeb that is a good thing. I hope the reboot crashes and burns and the Charmed one and the football one does well.

Ok I tried to go in with an open mind. I wasn't sure what to expect. My gut was right it is a nightmare! The show is not the Roswell we know and love.

First of all the pilot opens up with the Roswell crash from 1947. Flashback to current day. Liz has left town and has to return when the funding to her science research grant is cut.

Liz moves back to town now has to work at her the Crashdown that her father owns. She hates working at the Crashdown. They have a pod cast radio Milton type guy who talks about alien and government conspires.

Liz makes up stories to the tourists like she does in the original series about meeting an alien and her father gets in on the gag.

She meets Max when he stops her on the highway along with Sherif Valenti who is now a woman for a broken tail light.

Max and Liz have not seen each other for 10 years. Everyone is in town for the 10 year high school reunion. Isabel is now married and is helping put the reunion together. But we see her more hooking up with her husband then planning a reunion. She is not the Ice Queen we all know and love.

She can now mind wrap people. She knows Max has loved Liz for a long time and mind warps Liz ten year ago to forget him so Max can stay in Roswell.

Liz also ten years ago has a sister Rosa who later dies in a car crash and kills two classmates in her senior year. The town claims her sister was on drugs and Liz's mother was mentally ill and Rosa got into drugs because of the mother. Liz's Mom passed away a few years ago. Hence why the town hates her family and why Liz vows to leave Roswell.

Michael lives in a trailer and hides the alien stuff in his trailer. He is in jail for some reason. I think because he has to leave the land or something. They didn't make that clear. Michael eventually gets out thanks to Max.

Alex is now a solder who has a hurt leg. He now wears a fake leg. He works for the military. He tells Michael he has to leave.

Maria is a bar tender and Fortune teller she is the Madam Vivian of the series. No Candies what so ever because Michael and Alex hook up.

Kyle is now a doctor he is not related to the Valentines what so ever.

Later on Liz is working late at night dancing to her sisters favorite song. Hey Mrs. potter by Counting Crows. Just like how Max would listened to Counting Crows in the original in Toy House. Liz invites Max in for a milkshake the dinner experiences a drive by shooting in regards to the hatred towards Liz's family with the deaths in town years ago.

Max heals Liz. Next day Liz goes to Kyle to have her check her out. He does a scan to see if the bullet is still there. Of course nothing. Then the hand print appears.

Max is distance to Liz after the shooting. She gives him a milkshake to thank him for saving her life. She gets a blood sample from the straw.

Later on she meets Maria they get drunk she starts to hook up with Kyle. Kyle sees the hand print and Liz leaves.

Later on Max takes Liz to the pod chamber he tells her he is an alien. Liz has questions but apologies for being a scientist. Our Liz would never do that.

They share a connection scene with them placing their hands over their hearts and get flashes from childhood and high school. Liz sees how Max loved her all along and Max invites her to the reunion.

Mean while Kyle asks the Military about seeing hand prints they then take Kyle to an underground bunker and show him a top secret lab. I think this was in the books.

Max and Liz go to the reunion everyone is shocked she came and she starts to leave when Maria plays her sisters favorite song and they dance at the end. Max reveals he has something to so with the death of Liz's sister Rosa to Isabel and Michael and that Liz can never know. Michael and Alex kiss and Kyle learns more about the Hand Print people in the secret government cave.

The end.

Julie Plec and Candice talked about how they wanted the story to be about cowboys. So they made it Cowboys and Aliens. Then they went on and on about how diverse the cast is. Which is great and all but that is all they talked about was diversity. No taking about character storyline or plot.

Also it was so political. They made it so obvious from the start. Sometimes I just want to escape into a story with out an agenda. We get enough of the news daily with politics that sometimes you need a break.

Candice said how she loves the original. I am not so sure. This show didn't have the same magic or feel. They also started to name drop a lot Julie Plec and Candice saying how Shiri Appleby will direct the third episode. So that was cool to hear. Then Julie was going on and on how she is a good friends with Jason Behr and how he was at Candice's Birthday party. They said it was because of Candice and Julie that the original cast reunited and is hanging out more.

Wrong the original cast has always been close! Majandra was in Katherine Wedding a few years back. Nick and Katherine are friends so is Brendan and Majandra. The cast reunited in 2014 at the Austin Television festival. I hate how they just named dropped to look like see we respect the original.

The two main actors who play Max and Liz were there at the talk as well. They talked about how they had worked together on Bun Heads but had to be reminded of who the other was in the audition. I would of loved to have know if they had watched the original and what they wanted to bring to the character in the remake but again they talked about all about diversity with the cast.

Julie Plec went on and on about the chemistry between Max and Liz and how good it was. She said how she never saw better chemistry! I am sorry but they are not Jason and Shiri or Brendan and Majandra for that matter. The two leads had no chemistry what so ever! Just because you have worked with someone in the past does not give you a pass for great cemetery.

At times the pilot felt so rushed and thrown together. It was like they had a list and were just checking off the boxes. Hand Print check, shooting check, crashdown check.

Also the Crashdown was not decorated on the inside so you didn't see it was a theme restaurant like in the original. All you saw was a neon sign saying Crashdown.

It was so confusing to tell who was Max and who was Michael and you didn't know what character was which until they said their name.

I noticed how when the pilot aired how no one really clapped or cheered during it when they would cut to a different scene. No one clapped during the shooting scene. Some clapped at the end.

Also Julie Plec talked about her first time directing and the challenges they faced. She didn't realize they needed more town and dessert shorts in the pilot. Hello your show is called Roswell New Mexico and you didn't think to have shots of the town! :faceplam:

There were no shots of the high school just the reunion party. We never saw the Evans house or any of the houses in the town. Liz does not have a balcony.

One shot was a carbon copy from our pilot when Max and Isabel are found in the dessert at night by the Evans.

David Nutter did a stellar job directing our pilot. It was pure magic! So well done. He captured the world perfectly.

Over all I hope it crashes and burns! No chemistry or magic what so ever! The really was the titanic of ideas.

Leave our Roswell alone! If Candice, Julie, and the CW think this is a homage to Roswell and to the fans they are wrong! This was such a slap in the face to all of us die hards who fought to get Roswell on the air for 3 seasons!

Roswell was a feeling like no other. The CW has no idea what fandom they are dealing with!

There is only ONE Roswell! 19 years later we still believe!

A couple of other articles to go along with the previously posted THR article:

http://www.tvguide.com/news/roswell...e-the-cw-nycc/

http://www.syfy.com/syfywire/the-pi...ect-an-episode

So far, there aren't that many articles around and Twitter didn't have a whole lot more to offer in terms of thoughts other than a few mentions of praise. Perhaps there will be more available once the weekend is over though. My fingers are still crossed that someone leaks the episode.

I saw some hastags on twitter celebrating Roswell day on October 6th and the die hard fans are not happy with the remake. I saw one comment calling the new show a Walmart version.

As for my review I had to be as honest as possible. If I thought it had potential I would let you know. However I have read better fan fic then what we got with this disaster.

I am sure you could find a leaked version of the pilot to watch if you are so curious but for me I will stick with the original.

Your review of it definitely matched the script I read, so I'm curious to see for myself how it actually plays out onscreen and if my feelings on it are warranted. I already committed myself to at least sampling the pilot, so I can make a fair assessment. But the original is still and will always be my favorite, no re-imagining will change that.

I also had to laugh at TV Guide's review where it talked about using less flashbacks. I've been following the filming and casting calls and there have been A LOT of flashbacks in the 7 episodes they've filmed so far and will be filming. I know Shiri is set to direct her episode this month (if scheduling is correct), so I'm thinking she'll be involved in episode 8 or 9 possibly, I'm waiting to see Carina or one of the cast to post the front page of the script and super interested in seeing all the posts for when she is there.

The pilot does not play out well on screen. So confusing. My friends and I agreed they didn't develop the characters enough so you knew who was who. They all looked or acted the same.

The flashbacks I found were annoying as well. They should of opened with Liz's voice over about Roswell and of the 1947 crash like they did. But then they should of show a shot of the high school with the kids graduating in 2008 and should of shown what happen to Liz's sister Rosa that night. Then they could of cut to current day and say ten years later.

It would of been more interesting and people would of been curious as to what happened to Liz's sister. It also would of fit with the vibe and tone of Liz leaving Roswell and then being forced to return home 10 years later on the anniversary of her sister death.

They didn't establish the who what when were and why.

I felt it was too chopped up and they didn't create the emotional connection you could feel to the character and what they were going through. Also they introduced Liz's sister way to late in the pilot. If they had used the flashbacks of Liz's sister Rosa in the beginning it would of been more powerful in current time when Liz and Maria were saying how much they missed her.

I think the directing could of been more tight as well. You got a feeling when watching the original Roswell pilot. The original pilot used angles so you felt like you were Liz or Max at times looking into each other's world. This new show fell flat with great shots that added to the scene.

Remember the reflective window scene in the opening credits of Roswell that was the feeling you got when watching our Roswell pilot. It was so intimate and pure and dangerious. You were cheering for the chracters at the end of the pilot.

I'm going to give it a shot. I think when you have a show about aliens it's a shame not to use it to show our common humanity and have it be political.
Also I could totally get behind Michael/Alex.
